

Class Descriptions
Check these out to see what different styles of yoga are offered here at Seva. Remember, we believe that ALL yoga styles are suited to ALL bodies. The beauty of yoga is that you always do you....listen to your body, do your own thing!
VINYASA FLOW
In a Vinyasa Flow class we move with our breath. One breath, one movement. A moving meditation.
HATHA YOGA
In a Hatha Yoga class, we hold our yoga poses for 3-5 breaths. This allows us the ability to sink further into the pose and feel how it feels in YOUR body.
POWER YOGA
This class will get your heart rate up! A Vinyasa Flow that moves faster than the typical class and allows participants to try some of the less common poses in yoga. Everyone can do power yoga, as we encourage going at your own pace, but a basic knowledge of yoga poses is beneficial. But don't be afraid! It's fun!
Caution: Music may be rockin'!
RESTORATIVE YOGA
This class uses props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks and sandbags to allow you to sink deeply into a pose. Designed for ultimate relaxation!
YIN YOGA
Yin Yoga is a style of yoga where poses are held for several minutes, stimulating the fascia and connective tissues, encouraging them to safely and gently lengthen and release. This is a floor based practice with most poses done in either a seated position or lying on the back, belly or side. Each class is different, focusing on energy lines, acupressure points and organs associated with the season according to Oriental Medicine.
HATHA W/CHAIR OPTION
This class will follow a traditional Hatha format and is suitable for all levels. You do NOT have to use a chair for this class. You may take this class like any other Hatha Class. The difference here is that a chair option will be offered. This class will be helpful for those who require a little extra support getting up and down from the mat, or who prefer to stay in the chair for the entire class. Not only will this class be accessible for most, it will also give participants the skills and knowledge to take ANY Hatha Class and use a chair on their own.
YOGA NIDRA
Yoga Nidra is a deep guided meditation that takes you through several layers of consciousness and provides deep relaxation and stress relief. No physical practice is involved. Can be done laying or sitiing on a mat, or sitting in a chair.
FAMILY YOGA
Family Yoga is a great way for family members wo connect, along with learning and practicing some basic yogic principles. The yoga is done with games, songs and movement designed to be fun. All ages are welcome and all ages can have fun, but the activities are geared for children ages 3 to 8.
RESET
Reset is a class in which participants will use foam rollers to achieve Self-Myofascial Release (SMR). SMR has been proven to allow participants to achieve a deeper stretch because the muscles are warm and more pliable. SMR is similar to a sports massage and can provide many benefits for overall muscle health, inlcuding significant reductions in soreness and increased flexibility.
ZUMBA
Dance fitness class often based on latin rhythms that is fun and energetic. Come to shake it, laugh, smile and enjoy! No dance experience necessary. Silliness and not taking yourself seriously is encouraged!
STABILITY AND MOBILITY
A class based on using controlled body weight and Pilates-like movement to create a more stable body and core, while adding full body dynamic stretching to promote nerve flossing and neuromuscular communication. Overall, this creates increased circulation, flexibility and enhanced muscular relaxation. All levels will benefit from this class. No experience necessary. Taught by a certified Athletic Trainer
YOGA PHILOSOPHY BOOK DISCUSSION
As a group, we will choose books that relate to yoga philosophy and the yoga lifestyle. We will read together and discuss. Discussion will also take place on our Facebook Page "Seva Book Club" . Feel free to ask for an invite, come in person, or both.
CORE AND MORE
A workout designed to strengthen your core. A strong core is essential to good posture, balance and general well being. We will use a variety of equipment, such as stability balls, foam rollers and blocks to perform some yoga and pilates type exercises. And we will finish with some balance poses, all of which depend on that strong core. A 45 minute class
BALANCE AND MORE
A workout designed to help you with your balance. Balance is essential to our everyday lives from walking, running, playing sports and just existing safely as we age. We will use a variety of equipment, such as foam rollers and blocks to perform some yoga and pilates type exercises. And we will finish with some balance poses. A 45 minute class
S.E.A.T
S.E.A.T (Supported Exercise for Ageless Training) is a full-body exercise program developed to serve as an ageless workout for a multitude of individuals. The program is designed so that all the exercises can be performed seated, and participants may sprogress to standing if that is the goal. The program uses light weights or exercise bands, along with great music and fun dance moves (think 80s aerobics class in a chair). This is a scientifically based workout designed to help students get stronger and more flexible, while having fun!
FLEX TIME
Flex Time is a beginner/intermediate introduction to weight training using dumbbells and other equipment. This high energy class will focus on full body, functional movement with some cardio and core work included. Get ready for high energy beats as we get stronger, one rep at a time.
ROLL AND RENEW
In this class we use foam rollers, rolled blankets, tennis balls, our hands and even the weight of our own bodies to massage the entire body, hydrating the tissues and bringing ease to the muscles and joints. It is the perfect class for unwinding after a busy day or preparing for a more dynamic physical activity. It will leave you feeling simultaneously energized and relaxed.
QIGONG
Qigong (chi gong) energy exercise with the intention for health, wellbeing, and attunement to love-wisdom. Harmonizing body, btreath, and mind through movement, static poses, engagement, and relaxation. Exploring awareness and energy from multiple traditions. Practice is done mostly standing and accessible to all.
PILATES
This class will focus on teaching you the important 5 basic principles of Pilates and how to apply them to the exercise repetoire. It is recoommended that you attend all classes to gain a better understanding of the layering involved in the 5 basic principles but this is not required. Important to note that you must be able to get up and off the floor without assistance. This class is geared to those new to Pilates, though all are welcome.
BARRE
Barre is a ballet inspired fitness class. No dancing required. We will focus on strengthening and lengthening the legs as well as some arm work with small weights and finish with some core strength exercises.
